On Demand Workshop with Charis Stiles, LCSW

About this course:

ADHD has specific impacts on eating patterns, and it’s crucial that clinicians utilize neuro affirming and weight neutral approaches for diagnosis and interventions. Together we will develop strategies for working with adults and teens, as well as with clients exploring gender expression. We will examine both internalized and external biases towards clients in larger bodies and towards binge behaviors. Using case examples, we will formulate interventions that are respectful and effective for ADHD.

Adults with ADHD are 4 times more likely to be diagnosed with an eating disorder, especially bulimia nervosa or binge eating disorder.

In the US, from 2018 to 2022, health visits related to eating disorders more than doubled among people under the age of 17.

Research found a 70% increase in the prevalence of being higher weight for adults with ADHD.

Research shows high levels of weight bias among medical professionals, including mental healthcare providers.
